T.D. Jakes, the globally renowned bishop of The Potter’s House megachurch in the U.S., left worshippers and online viewers in shock after a frightening health scare during Sunday’s sermon.
In a moment captured on video and widely shared on social media, Jakes appeared to struggle as he concluded his sermon with a prayer. His voice was steady but his movements slowed noticeably.
“The meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, oh Lord,” he prayed, his breathing labored. “My strength and my redeemer, let them go in peace.”
With his head bowed, he slowly lowered the microphone.
But what followed left many gasping. Jakes’ head began to sway, his body jerking in a way that suggested he was on the verge of collapse. Church staff rushed to his side, catching him just in time to prevent him from falling.
In an official statement shared on Facebook, The Potter’s House reassured concerned followers. “Bishop Jakes received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the church wrote.
The message continued: “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
While the church has not confirmed whether Jakes required hospitalization or disclosed the cause of the incident, the alarming episode has sparked widespread concern among his millions of followers.
